Nagina Craft Development Society (NCDS) is a registered Non-profit, Non-government Voluntary organization working for the benefit of handicraft artisans practicing the wood carving craft. NCDS has its office at Nagina, District Bijnor (U.P.) and it is involved with various welfare activities for the craft artisans at Nagina.
NCDS identified various clusters and formed several self-help-group of artisans under Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hastshilp Vikas Yojna (AHVY) with the financial assistance from office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, New Delhi. The basic aim of formation of these groups was to make the artisans work in a collective manner for their benefit.
NCDS always emphasized with the artisans about new designs and concepts and for this it has conducted a few Design and Technical Development workshop in wood carving craft involving qualified designers. NCDS has showcased these designs to exporters and buying agents and got very positive results.
NCDS has build work sheds for the artisans of Nagina, It also motivated the artisans for group insurance for their benefit. With the aim of providing direct marketing opportunities to the artisans it has organized various Exhibitions and Craft Bazaars in various cities. To market the products in overseas market it has participated in Export promotion fairs.
NCDS has provided much -needed common facility service center (CFSC) to the artisans which is fully equipped with any kind of tools and technique to undertake any kind of wood carving job.
